Can anyone wear red lipstick?

Yes! Don't be afraid of red. Everyone should own a red lipstick, it just needs to be the right shade. With so many shades of red to choose from, there is definitely a red for everyone, regardless of age.

Blot your lipstick with a tissue and set with powder: Separate a tissue to make it as thin as possible. After applying your lipstick, place the tissue gently against your lips and lightly powder the tissue. A bit of the powder will go through the thin ply of tissue and this will set your lipstick without drying it out.

Always use sunscreen! Apply a good moisturizer first, then your sunscreen, then your makeup.

not your makeup."

In Conversation with Valli O'Reilly...

What inspired you to become a makeup artist?

I have always been very artistic and I was attracted to makeup as an art form. I liked the fact that you could change someone's appearance with just a few strokes of a brush.

What advice would you give someone looking to become a professional makeup artist?

Try to do as many low budget films and/or photo shoots as possible before enrolling in makeup school. This way, you can develop your own personal style and not just recreate looks you are taught. A good makeup school can then help you refine and perfect your skills.

What is the biggest mistake you see people making with cosmetics?

A lot of women seem to have trouble selecting the right shade of foundation. Your foundation should match your neck. It's really important to view the product on your face in natural light before purchasing. Apply some product from a tester and then go outside with a mirror to ensure a correct color match.

What three items would you want with you on a desert island?

A lover, great movies and something to watch them on, and my dog Boo.

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?

Breakfast in bed with the Sunday paper.

Where is your favorite place to relax?

The ocean. Any ocean!

Do you have a makeup secret to help women look younger?

Yes! Don't use too much powder: leave a little sheen and it will make you look healthier and younger. Also, apply a good eye cream and lip conditioner at night for smoother skin in the morning. And don’t forget to drink lots of water and get a lot of sleep!

What are your favorite CARGO products?

I love the PlantLove lipsticks.

Is there a CARGO product you think everyone should own?

Definitely the LashActivator mascara.
