What is the best way to mask or correct eyes that are puffy and tired?

A good concealer and translucent powder are my ways to deal with puffy/tired eyes.

My top tip is to learn to do your makeup in natural light (which does not lie!) You will be able to cover flaws and blend better.

Secondly: blend, blend, and blend!!!!

In Conversation with Jackie Gideon...

What inspired you to become a makeup artist?

I've wanted to be a makeup artist since I was eight years old! I have always been drawn to the female face, and would often use it for my art work. Makeup is the natural extension of my illustrative work.

What advice would you give someone looking to become a professional makeup artist?

My advice would be: If you love it...pursue it! I also advise people to educate themselves in all forms of art and history. Visual inspiration comes from so many sources. It is important to surround yourself with the ‘masters’ of art.

What is the biggest mistake you see people making with cosmetics?

Using the wrong colors, or being afraid to use colors with a little more pigment. By picking colors that are too safe, women sometimes age themselves.

What three items would you want with you on a desert island?

Lip gloss, a book...and a pair of tweezers!

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?

Chocolate and celebrity gossip mags!!!

Where is your favorite place to relax?

In my beautiful garden.

What is the funniest thing that's ever happened to you on the job?

I recently was on location shooting with legendary photographer Yuri Dojc and we all nearly got arrested for trespassing and shooting on private property! I had to sweet talk the authorities into letting us off the hook. While Yuri continued to shoot pictures of the model, I distracted the officials!!! All part of the job!

Do you have a makeup secret to help women look younger?

The trick is to balance and even out your skin tone before applying any makeup. When the canvas is smooth, the makeup will go on more beautifully.

What are your must-have CARGO products?

I LOVE CARGO blushes!!! They go on like velvet and give the skin a radiant glow. The color selection is excellent...my favorite!

Is there a CARGO product you think everyone should own?

CARGO blushes and eye shadows are superior to any products I have ever used. The quality and application of these products is second to none.
